There's many proxy-related questions in Ask! Ubuntu. Most ask how to automatically or easily switch on/off the proxy settings. But nobody seems to be suggesting to move the proxy settings to the network interface setup itself.
In Android devices you set the proxy settings for each network. There's no headache there. Would it be so difficult to do the same in Linux/Ubuntu? An interesting workaround is described here using squid to simplify the on/off switch. But it is not perfect. The ideal is the Android implementation, I guess.
