Hi there,

I have been writing to this list a few weeks ago and asked about whether
a new tilda version could be imported into launchpad. Since then I have
been playing a bit with the source code and realized that tilda was
still using GTK+2 and made use of a lot of functions which were pretty
outdated.

I have now ported tilda to GTK+3 and vte-2.90 and I migrated from
libglade to GtkBuilder. I also fixed lots of GTK-WARNINGS and
GTK-CRITICAL that were happening at runtime.

So far it works pretty well and I'm planning to make it more stable and
fix some remaining issues and then release it.

I have two questions now. First, is there anyone who likes tilda and
wants to test it a bit? You can find the source at
https://github.com/lanoxx/tilda in the master branch. I would be happy
to receive some feedback.

The other question is: What would be required to get this into Ubuntu?
Ubuntu has already a tilda project registered in launchpad but it is
outdated and has been syncing from sourceforge's CVS which only has a
version that is outdated for three years. Is it enough if I just create
a new tag in git and update the version in configure.ac and then
launchpad can pull it and package it, or are there other steps involved
which I need to learn?

Regards
Lanoxx
