Thanks Vishal, I'll try that. The SSD is a Transcend TS64GSSD25-M: I needed a PATA drive as it's an old laptop and that was the best model I found. I notice that your patch[1] talks about ATA errors in dmesg. How do you identify those if there are any? I don't find anything that looks out of place when I run: dmesg | grep -i ata Anyway, I'll try to dig a bit deeper and will post my findings on the forums which, as Luke says, is probably the better place for that sort of discussions.
