The fact that there is nobody willing to reply (I posted a similar message one year ago, so this is certainly not a matter of time) can mean only two things:
1) on this list, nobody knows the answer. I think this is likely. Then, the custom search should be removed from firefox. Nobody knows why it is there. 2) someone knows, but they are ashamed to tell the truth. This is likely too. If you just want to adopt a marketing strategy, damnit, just admit it. The majority of users including myself will continue to use ubuntu. But why silence? This is really worrying.
