The schedule application needs to know who is attending UDS; to present a personal schedule to each person, it needs to know when that person is attending, what specifications they are subscribed to, what tracks and topics they have expressed interest in, etc. Rather than require people to create yet another account on the schedule application, we use their Launchpad account.
