I suggest (1) reporting a bug describing the problem <https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/scim/+filebug>, (2) attaching your patch, and (3) nominating it to be fixed in Intrepid. If you don't do #1 and #2, your patch will likely be forgotten. If you don't do #3, it definitely won't be fixed for Intrepid.
