I would have to agree on not hearing many Ubuntu (even other distros) sounds. I would suggest forwarding this to the Ubuntu-ART ML or getting in contact with someone from Artwork Team. Though I am unsure if audio artwork is their realm.

Hearing a lot of Vista startup sounds but hardly any Ubuntu sounds. Maybe the people with Ubuntu laptops have the sound turned down?
