Hi, Shashank. For instant messaging, you should give Pidgin a try. (Applications > Internet > Pidgin.) I'm not sure what to tell you about DSL/PPPoE; I too would really like a GUI for that, but I'm not aware of such a thing. For office productivity, you may want to give OpenOffice a shot (Applications > Office > OpenOffice); I use it regularly, and I find it to be very good. It can read and write to MS-Office 2007 documents. You can even have it save as .doc/.xls/.ppt documents by default. I think you'll find that there is a free/open source solution for almost every type of software, and Ubuntu does a very good job of making them accessible to the average user. One last note: It's not very safe to post your address or phone number anywhere on the Internet, even in a forum like this. While I think all the people here are good folks, we're not the only ones who read this mailing list. Moderators: any chance you can remove his personal information from the mailing list? It would be a shame for it to be abused. Have a good one. --Dane -- Ubuntu-devel-discuss mailing list Ubuntu-devel-discuss@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-devel-discuss
