Hi all! As most of you probably know, for some time the Maintainer field in .debs have been "adjusted" before they go to the mirrors to reflect Debian's wishes [0] that we change the field when we modify the packages. Matt Zimmerman asked me to write an email to let everybody know that we should also be changing the Maintainer field in the *source* packages as well, as we are merging or modifying them. Full details are in the spec [1], but basically:
For packages with an ubuntuX version: * If the Maintainer field has an @ubuntu.com address, leave it alone * If not, change Maintainer: to: - Ubuntu Core Developers <[email protected]> for Main and Restricted packages (I think this is right according to [2] ) - Ubuntu MOTU Developers <[email protected]> for Universe and Multiverse packages - if there is a more appropriate Ubuntu contact use it instead of the above Important: If you change the Maintainer field keep the original data by putting it in a Original-Maintainer: field Any questions should be directed to ubuntu-devel or ubuntu-devel-discuss and I hope I got all the info right :-) Thanks, -Jordan Mantha [0] http://master.debian.org/~jeroen/polls/maintainer-field/ [1] https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebianMaintainerField [2] https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-devel/2006-December/023038.html -- ubuntu-devel-announce mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-devel-announce
