While geary looks nice and is a small&efficient application I'm not sure it's good enough to be our default choice. Email clients are tricky (need to deal with lot of weird servers) and thunderbird/evolution just got more work and users and are tested solutions that we know do the job, geary would probably require quite some investment to get "there".
