Thanks for your email. Could you give details on what in ibus 1.5 is gnome-shell specific? Could it be adapted to work on other desktop environments?
The plan so far would be to rewrite a keyboard,input method indicator to work with ibus 1.5 and GNOME 3.6 it seems...
