Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: thunderbird

Unbuntu 8.04, Thunderbird 2.0.0.16.

Thunderbird hangs and crashes all the time (really).

Hang happens often just after startup (after entering the master
password). Almost always when having worked in another desktop, coming
back. Sometimes the hang is when clicking on an e-mail. Just not using
it for a few minutes makes it hang.

Crashes are also frequent: sometimes during compose.

One other thing I noticed is that both Firefox and Thunderbird have a
very long time before showing a file selector box. It takes 20-30
seconds. Disk access is not slow; 'df' finishes well within a second.
Having said that, file selection in other apps is also slow (say, 5
seconds before popup), but TB/FF are *much* slower.

Reverting to an older version because I can have a hang or crash once a
day, but not 10s of times.
