Hi , i have also this bug (not only for Firefox but all applications in gnome when I do a save as) and as far for me only appears as i use Romanian language. Every time i change back to English all works perfectly. The problem is that my parents do not speak anything but Romanian so it is a real pain to force them to use a computer in English.
Also if you open a terminal and set the LANG env to "export LANG=ro_RO" , and start Firefox or whatsoever application and do a save as it will not crash anymore. If you use "export LANG=ro_RO.UTF-8" all save as from a gnome application will crash on any save as command. I think is a easy bug and maybe others can confirm/infirm if they use also other languages than English.
