@ James Grabbs Could you file a new bug for that saying which version of
tuxtype and attach ~/.xsession-errors after it does this? Also
/var/log/Xorg.0.log

@BriLarks does it do this on any other software? Could you tell me which
version of tuxtype you are using on which version of Ubuntu? Does it do
the same on tuxmath? Other games?

Could you look at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Reporting. Does control-alt-
backspace restart X?

Could you attach:

 /var/log/Xorg.0.log
/var/log/Xorg.0.log.old
~/.xsession-errors 

Paste in output of lspci -nn | grep VGA
