Amazing thing! I pplied this command and the graphic acceleration worked "just once"!
sudo /usr/sbin/update-rc.d -f atieventsd remove I read something about the atieventsd not looking for a file in the right location and handling the error not gracefully. The weird thing is that after this success I made a 2nd reboot, and the problem came back!
