this looks like a very old thread. sorry if i'm in the wrong place. anyway, everything was okay with my openoffice apps until i used apt-get to install kubuntu (over ubuntu) today. when i use the kubuntu session, if i open an xls or doc file... the icons and menu texts could not be seen (except the ones the mouse pointer is at, as described above). attaced is a screenshot.
