Hello there, To overcome the problems I've been having above, I have changed my CD- writer, from the Yamaha CRW8424E that was causing the problems, to a more up to date make/model that was unused in another PC.
My new system seems to be quite happy using Hardy. No boot problems, CD- writer is recognised, and can burn CDs. To check that the above kernel change has fixed the problem, would be difficult: a. I'd have to change the CD-writer back to the Yamaha b. I have limited download limit on my broadband c. I'm sure that the Yamaha CD-writer CRW8424E is just not compatible anymore Thanks -- Another slow boot in 7.10 (Gutsy) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/159819 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
