I installed the packages linux-image-2.6.26-5-generic_2.6.26-5.17_i386.deb and linux-image-2.6.27-1-generic_2.6.27-1.2_i386.deb under Hardy by hand and tried to boot both kernels, with no success.
Still the 15 partition limit, so there's no point for further testing other subsystems, sorry. I noticed however that the Promise onboard controller is now also managed by the pata framework (by module pata_pdc202xx_old). The dmesg output of 2.6.27 is attached (in case you ask yourself, there's momentarily no drive connected to the Promise controller) ** Attachment added: "dmesg_2.6.27-1-generic" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/17148354/dmesg_2.6.27-1-generic -- The change from native ide_disk to scsi-emulation (pata_*) in the latest kernel prohibits access to more than 15 partitions https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/253221 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
