Same here, Hardy / Gnome. Using this as image path: http://tools.wikimedia.de/~daniel/potd/potd.php/commons/800x600 and can see that the images are downloaded to /tmp/. When clicking on the gkrellkam panel the image in /tmp/ is launched with the configured image viewer, but doesn't show the image in the panel itself.
