** Description changed: Trying to install ubuntu 8.04 on a new laptop. Tried with Live cd, alternade cd, a lot of options on the boot. Every option freaze the instalation on the beggining. I could only check this error: ACPI Exception (processor_core-0816): AE_NOT_FOUND, Processor Device is not present [20070126] this is repeated like 7-8 times. and then at somo point everything freezes. laptop: Intel T2390 Chipset: • SiS© 671DX + SiS968 by the way, this came with a linux installed. Caixa Magica 12, a portuguese linux based on mandriva 2008. + + I was able to installing ubuntu but with the option noapic acpi=off. + I made all the updates, and i still only boot with this option. Is there a way to get the acpi working??
