It seems that the way the close button signal is transmitted change when
going from GTk+2.10

Release notes say : Dialogs created by gtk_about_dialog_new() no longer
hide automatically when the user clicks close. It is the applications
responsibility to hide or destroy the dialog.

so, I'll add the code to hide the about dialog box and attach a debdiff
