It is weird. On the installed Intrepid I switched off splash option immediately after install (few days back), because I could not get xsession running. Without splash option system booted and worked like a charm.
Now, I've put back a splash option and I can not reproduce the behavior consistently: sometimes system boots till the gdm login screen, sometimes it is not (out of 10 or so reboots).
