Public bug reported: I hope that there is enough tester interest in testing Ubuntu as a "Live session user."
I boot Intrepid as a 'Live session user' with whatever graphics driver it selects for my desktop computer. Since I cannot get either Intrepid or Hardy v8.04.1 to mount my internal hard drive on this particular desktop computer, I boot either with a 512MB SD card attached via a USB Secure Digital card reader (Model No CR-V7-UD) that reads only SD cards or I attach the SD card after the Desktop appears. Intrepid's default monitor screen size for my Dell Trinitron is the barely readable 1600x1200, 65Hz. The Desktop displays the typical SD card icon that shows the top of an SD card with 'SD.' If I then change the monitor screen resolution to 800x600, 75Hz, the SD card icon on the Desktop changes to an icon that shows the bottom of an SD card with metal contacts. The SD card is still mounted after the icon flips over and I can edit text files that are on it. When I attach the SD card after booting to the Desktop, the following Apport Error Title pops up right after I change the screen resolution to 800x600, 75Hz: gnome-settings-daemon crashed with signal 5 in xkl_process_error(). Intrepid displays a Restricted drivers available icon next to 'Live session user.' These two drivers are available: NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (version 71) and (version 96). So far, I have been unable to install either one of these drivers as a Live session user.
