1. This is a bug in the hardy release of Ubuntu. My system has onboard sound - no sound card. The onboard sound chip is: Device: SoundMAXR ADI AD1988B.
2. I reported this as a bug in hardy because it worked in prior releases Of Ubuntu. 3. I route the digital output {SPDIF signal] to an external amp. This works in Windows but not in hardy Ubuntu - a loss of functionality Which worked in prior releases. 4. TO fix this ASAP, try installing a prior release of Ubuntu. Robert E.
