While not being an expert but reading through the various referred bug reports it seems to me that this bug should be fixed in devmapper version 1.02.27-2 (http://bugs.debian.org/cgi- bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=455746). Unfortunately the next Ubuntu release 8.10 does currently not contain this version (version 1.02.25 instead). So please upgrade devmapper before the next Ubuntu release to get rid of this annoying bug!
