I think that the solution is to make the /etc/X11/Xsession.d
/25ubuntustudio-menu script not set XDG_CONFIG_DIRS to contain ONLY it's
own configuration directory. It probably should set it to also contain
the default configuration directories, like this:
export XDG_CONFIG_DIRS="${BASE_DIR}:/etc/xdg:${HOME}/.config"
I have not verified whether or not that works, but suspect that it will.
