Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

I've noticed this happening sometime while using Hardy. Originally sound
worked perfectly since I installed Hardy.

My sound card is fully supported ( Intel 82801EB/ER AC'97 Audio
Controller) and the only device which Gutsy previously had problems with
selecting as default audio output, was my usb phone (C-Media
Electronics, Inc. Audio Adapter [Planet UP-100, Genius G-Talk]), but now
in Hardy, that minor problem doesn't happen.

So my audio worked really good until one day (I was looking at a flash
video on youtube), I noticed that sound didn't play. At first I thought
it was linked to the buggy Flash plugin. But then noticed that no other
application was able to produce sound.

So after fiddling around various settings, reselecting Alsa instead of
PulseAudio solved my whole sound problem.

I sometimes re-enable the PulseAudio setting, but with the same results:
it works for a couple of days, and after that sound doesn't play any
more.

** Affects: pulseaudio (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
