Hi there, I had the same issue with Ubuntu 6.06 and waited Edgy to confirm.. Unfortunately same issue..
Issue on a Toshiba Satellite L100. A friend has a similar laptop in the L100 range and doesn't have the issue. alsamixer is reporting a generic chipset on my machine, but a realtek chipset on his.
