For anyone who finds this bug and wants to disable or change the system beep, here are a few options:
1) System > Preferences > Sound > System Beep > Enable System Beep (check / uncheck) 2) To change the volume / pitch, use `xset b 30 500`. The first number is the volume, in percentage, and the second is the frequency in hertz.
