More findings: when performing boot by turning the computer on, the driver freezes with EXA. I have to unplug the second monitor, boot to X, replug the monitor, restart X and then it works correctly. With XAA it works correctly right from the beginning. One more reason for me to stop putting random stuff to Xorg.conf :-)
