Public bug reported: I have just upgraded to Edgy, and the vesa driver no longer appears to be working.
I have created a new xorg.conf with dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg. This selects trident, and gives an X that just about works, but is not satisfactory. (See https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/57862 ) If I change the Device driver to "vesa", when I boot the system, after the usplash screen disappears, the screen stays blank and the gdm screen does not appear.
