I'm unfamiliar with the process of opening a new bug so if it became a Firefox problem that might be because I put Firefox in the name.
At this point I'll just say that it's all a wash and cancel the bug report and stick to using wget. It's a dang nuisance compared to what was available before but less of a problem than trying to satisfy the bug reporting process.
