I actually do not have Hardy 8.04 installed on my laptop anymore due to this and other minor issues. I have attached a text file of in-depth system information regarding the hardware. I know the issue was not that particular install of Hardy, because I had installed Ubuntu 8.04 several times on my laptop and kept up with the latest updates, and I experienced this issue at all times. I will stay subscribed to this bug if I can be of any further help beyond reinstalling Ubuntu.
