I managed to get ia32-libs installed yesterday by "apt-get remove
lib32ssl0.9.8" first; I swear added that note to this bug report but I
don't see it. {shrug}
Perhaps it came in via a medibuntu package. In any case here is the
output of "apt-cache policy lib32ssl0.9.8":
