Shutdown gdm (/etc/init.d/gdm stop), and then start x via `startx` and let it crash, then look at the console output for an error message and paste it here.
Also, thank you for attaching your Xorg.0.log, however you did not indicate whether that was produced with xorg.conf from comment #2 or #4. The xorg.conf in #4 is the correct one.
