** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: network-manager

I am using an up-to-date version of network-manager 0.6.6-0ubuntu5 in
Hardy Heron 8.04 (in a Dell Dimension 5150 with Edimax EW-7128g wireless
card with Ralink chips run on the default Ralink driver that comes with
Hardy.) network-manager usually does not show _any_ wireless networks,
even though iwlist shows 10 to 19 of them.

I can randomly get network-manager to show some of the networks, by
- repeatedly switching to the roaming mode and back and then choosing
- Properties, but at those times when something is shown, the number of
- networks is much lower than those 10 or 19, typically about 5, and the
- list does not always include my home network which has by far the
- strongest signal.
+ repeatedly clicking the Properties button or switching to the roaming
+ mode and back and then choosing Properties, but at those times when
+ something is shown, the number of networks is much lower than those 10
+ or 19, typically about 5 or less, and the list does not always include
+ my home network which has by far the strongest signal.

After I have managed to chosen a wireless network everything works
  perfectly.

I use the same Ubuntu version on a Dell Latitude D610 laptop (with Intel
wireless chips) and there network-manager works perfectly.
