Subject: [Bug 190104] Re: CPU Fan doesn't come on 'till the CPU temp is above
60C

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description
does not yet have enough information.

Please include the following additional information, if you have not already
done so (pay attention to lspci's additional options), as required by the
Ubuntu Kernel Team:
1. Please include the output of the command "uname -a" in your next response.
It should be one, long line of text which includes the exact kernel version
you're running, as well as the CPU architecture.
2. Please run the command "dmesg > dmesg.log" after a fresh boot and attach the
resulting file "dmesg.log" to this bug report.
3. Please run the command "sudo lspci -vvnn > lspci-vvnn.log" and attach the
resulting file "lspci-vvnn.log" to this bug report.

For your reference, the full description of procedures for kernel-
related bug reports is available at [WWW]
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeamBugPolicies Thanks in advance!

Status in “linux” source package in Ubuntu: Incomplete

Bug description:
I have Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon) on a HP pavilion zt1175 (Intel P4 1.4 ghz, 40
gb hd, 1024 mb ram)
I thought the cpu was too hot when the keyboard was hot to the touch so I
installed a cpu temp readout pgm
I discovered that the cooling fan doesn't come on untill the CPU is above 60
degrees C. Intel says it should have the fan on at full tilt at 40 degrees C.
I created a fan to cool the processor for the time being but I would like to
have the internal fan com on when it is supposed to.
