this sounds like a rather weird and failed upgrade attempt. According to
the report, it is not clear to me in any case if the problem still
persists in the intrepid package, nor what went wrong exactly.
I can however assure you that my hardy system with root crypted lvm
boots and works just fine. It was even upgraded from gutsy.
Therefore I'm marking this bug as 'incomplete' because of the reasons
outlined above.
