Public bug reported: Binary package hint: compizconfig-settings-manager
I have python2.3 (which I compiled from old sources) installed on my newer 8.04 installation. When trying to install the compizconfig-settings-manager it crashes in the stage where it compiles the python files to pyc since it uses some new syntax that did not exist in python2.3. This is probably a very esoteric problem (I wonder how many more people actually need python2.3 on their machines), nevertheless the solution is very simple. Just changing the line: XS-Python-Version: all to XS-Python-Version: >= 2.4 in the debian/control file in the source package. I guess it couldn't hurt...
