Public bug reported: Binary package hint: madwifi-tools
I have 2.6.26-5 kernel. My wifi card worked up to 2.6.26-2 kernel. But does not work out of box since then. I guess it's because madwifi ath_pci was replaced by ath5k. ath5k does not work with this wifi card. Card is recognized as: 05:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR242x 802.11abg Wireless PCI Express Adapter (rev 01) modprobe ath5k results with this: [ 2109.632907] ath5k_pci 0000:05:00.0: registered as 'phy0' [ 2109.711209] phy0: Selected rate control algorithm 'pid' [ 2109.778020] ath5k phy0: Atheros AR2424 chip found (MAC: 0xa0, PHY: 0x61) [ 2109.778020] udev: renamed network interface wlan0 to ath0 [ 2109.858722] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): ath0: link is not ready My card works again when downloading source from madwifi.org and launching: modprobe ath_pci. ** Affects: madwifi-tools (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Atheros AR242x wifi card does not work with ath5k kernel module https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/253881 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
