Chris, Thank you for your attention. Very much appreciated. I did try to attach the sources.list as instructed when I first reported the bug, however I get the error message "Cannot upload empty file."
With regards to what I was doing when I first encountered the bug. Update manager has not worked well (consistently) since I upgraded from from 7.10 to 8.04. It would frequently just freeze. However I finally learned how to update using apt-get from a terminal. I was hoping that after updating my system that the update manager would be fixed. Once I got caught up on the updates (at one point I had 283 updates to install) Update Manager seemed to be working on smaller update packages i.e. less than 50 MB (approximately) The last time I ran the Update Manager I received the message posted above indicating that I should post a bug report. I am happy to help in whatever way I am able, and certainly appreciate your assistance. I very much enjoy Ubuntu, and have actively promoted it in my small local area, installing it on friends computers, teaching others about Ubuntu (at a rudimentary level). I look forward to someday being able to contribute at a greater more effective level.
