Public bug reported:

I am reporting a NEW BUG because there seem to be a variety of people
having similar problems, but they are slightly unique. The Ubuntu Forums
are flooded with this issue and there are yet to be any real solutions.

In Hardy using Kernel versions .16 and .19 I can connect to an unsecured
network. BUT I cannot get an IP from a WEP network --although it does
connect. AND I cannot connect at all to WPA.

I have tried various network managers now I am back to default. I have
gone through the wireless trouble shooting wiki as well.

I have a NEW LENOVO with Intel 3945 card which is supposed to be well
supported.

Any diagnostic output you require just ask. This is a huge problem. I
have to have XP only because of this.

Tony D.
