I can confirm the same problem exists with the Linux 2.6.24-20-generic #1 SMP Mon Jul 28 13:49:52 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux kernel.
No wireless networking with irw2200. It works with irqpoll turned on, but then other things make using ubuntu problematic such as sluggish performance across the board, and the touchpad non responsive to taps.
