You have been subscribed to a public bug by Jamie Strandboge (jdstrand): Binary package hint: network-manager
if one plugs in a device that uses an IP connection (my example - an O2 phone running Windows CE) - networkmanager detects a wired connection and disables all wireless. This is disruptive. I have several wireless connections in my house - some work, some are meant for testing only. Repeatedly the wireless connection disconnects the working one and switches to a nonworking one. No further information. FIX: blacklist networks. MUST be able to blacklist wireless networks! Note: this IS a security danger. It's possible to switch from a secure corporate network to an unsecure wireless if the unsecure seems to have stronger signal. It is possible to hijack wireless systems this way. (tested and the bug's always been present in NetworkManager). Should also be able to restrict to preferred networks only. (if the non-roaming supported WPA, this wouldn't be a problem) ** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- NetworkManager picks unconnected wired devices over working wireless - as well as picking nonworking wireless over working wireless https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/249485 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
