Here is the relevant discussion about that choice https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-devel/2008-February/025065.html and this particular message https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu- devel/2008-February/025087.html from cjwatson who propose to ship mlocate instead of slocate.
You can also read bug #191775 which points to the main inclusion report. >From the package description mlocate uses the alternatives system "Installing >mlocate will change the /usr/bin/locate binary to point to mlocate via the >alternatives mechanism" I haven't checked but if it is not the case then this is a bug and you should fill a report about it. If you want to use slocate instead of mlocate I guess you can use the alternatives system (if it works) or uninstall mlocate. -- slocate does not run if mlocate is installed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/236181 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
