Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.24-19-generic
Hello folks! I'm referring to an issue with my "Logitech Audio Hub"-system which was also discovered by several owners of these speakers in connection with linux. Let me just paste you the quotes and the links to the corresponding bulletin boards. gnufied 05-24-2008 "I have bought those Audiohub USB speakers recently and while buying I asked the salesman very specifically, if it will work in Linux. He said, yes, it will work in Linux, since it doesn't need any drivers. Well, I brought them home and changed my Audio device to USB audio and speakers work. But there is a constant popping/buzzing sound coming out of speaker, which is driving me nuts. Now, I went back to vendor and he promised he will contact logitech support and get back to me. Now, its almost more than a week and blighter is yet to get back. I googled and someone using Archlinux had similar problem, but apparently dear friend was not able to fix it. I am using Ubuntu 8.04 and would like to know, what to do about these speakers, which are next to dead weight for me." Jsanchez 07-17-2008 "For people with the same problem, there's a solution by unchecking 2 options in the kernel. Here goes the link http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=41517 by unchecking those 2 options it works perfectly, [...]" The above is taken from http://forums.logitech.com/logitech/board/message?board.id=stereo_20&thread.id=3304 and the corresponding solution can be found on http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=41517 which is quoted in the following: mikko-v 05-30-2008 "[...] After experimenting a bit with the kernel USB configuration, the noise went away when I unselected USB_EHCI_ROOT_HUB_TT and USB_EHCI_TT_NEWSCHED at "Device drivers - USB support - EHCI HCD". I think it is the latter option that made the difference. This was on kernel 2.6.25.4. Although marked experimental, both seem to be selected on Arch kernel26. On older kernels (2.6.20-2.6.24) you may have to select USB_EHCI_SPLIT_ISO, but there I am just guessing. [...]" So I would appreciate it if you'd remove those 2 experimental kernel-options in order to enhance the compatibility to this sort of hardware. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Kernel 2.6.24-19-generic conflicts with "Logitech Audio Hub" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/252291 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
