Public bug reported:

This is hard to classify but here it goes...

If you attempt to shut down or log out of the computer when you have a
document opened that you have not saved you get a pop up over the file
that you have not saved saying that you will lose the changes you have
made to the document in the last 6 seconds, if you close now. Then it
gives you the options of canceling the log out, continuing and losing
your data, or save it... If you open a window and go to another
workspace and try to shut down, nothing will happen, what it should do
is bring you to the workspace where the error message has popped up...
Also, you will no longer be able to click on the panels, or any icons on
your desktop.

Okay here are the steps.**

1. Create a new File, anywhere, in Gedit.
2. Type some stuff. Do not save it.
3. Go to another workspace.
4. Attempt to Shutdown your computer.
5. See if you experience the above.

**In order to switch to the workspace you need to be in, you have to use
Ctrl-Alt-Left or Right to get over there....

I am not using any Compiz.
