Public bug reported:

After boot, I can use Hardy Heron for about 20 minutes. Then some rogue
program starts up and hogs all system resources. The mouse cursor will
only move in jerks about 2 seconds after the mouse is physically moved.
It takes about 5 minutes to open a window. Because of the almost 100%
disk usage, I suspected an indexer as the culprit. I set Tracker to
index nothing and run at 99% nice. The problem persists. I set it to
delay indexing to 1000, which is about the amount of time I can use my
computer before it locks up. My only option is to wait about an hour and
a half until the rogue process stops, or pull out the power cord and
reboot. I now always just pull out the power cord and reboot. I cannot
find out which process is the culprit because it denies CPU time even to
the system monitor. This bug essentially makes the system unusable. I
have installed nothing out of the ordinary via Synaptic, ie nothing I
have not used before in Dapper Drake. How can I track down and uninstall
this rogue program?
