Public bug reported:

When unplugging AC power from my Dell D430 laptop, I get a temporary
freeze due to the CPUs spiking. This only occurs when logged into Gnome.
It does not occur when only GDM is running. Immediately after logging
into Gnome, with only the panel and applets running, this problem is
apparent.

Syslog shows this at the time of unplugging:

Jul 15 21:16:12 joss-laptop kernel: [ 500.128223] CPU0 attaching NULL
sched-domain.
Jul 15 21:16:12 joss-laptop kernel: [ 500.128231] CPU1 attaching NULL

My kernel:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ uname -a
Linux joss-laptop 2.6.24-19-generic #1 SMP Wed Jun 18 14:43:41 UTC 2008 i686
GNU/Linux
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$

Stopping acpid does not resolve it.

Thank you for your help.
Joss
