I can't reproduce this on Pidgin 2.4.1 with Hardy. I added a new MSN account with a random user from a domain other than hotmail.com and a false password, and obviously I got a login error. Then I clicked on "Modify account" and the domain different from hotmail.com I had entered was still there.
